This C.N.A. In-Service Course does NOT Certify YOU as a C.N.A......
There are NO Short Cuts in Nursing....
Only the State of
Florida can TEST YOU and ISSUE the Official Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License... You can NOT attend any training center in Florida... and take a class and be CERTIFIED... YOU MUST TAKE A STATE OF FLORIDA EXAM... and PASS the EXAM... that is the ONLY PATH to License / Certification.
You
CAN NOT Work in Hospitals or Nursing Homes until you are
LICENSED by the State of Florida as a CNA.
There is NO DIPLOMA, Class Attendance Record or Word Document that is recognized or can substitute for the State of Florida C.N.A. Certification / License. No one can work in the SOF until they are CERTIFIED by the SOF Board of Nursing as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Anyone, who can pass the background check , can take the Florida CNA Exam up to 3 times. Only if you FAIL the Florida CNA EXAM 3 Times are you required to take the 120 Hr FORMAL CNA Course at a Tech School or Community College.
In 6 years.. we have had only 1 person who could not pass the written
portion of the CNA test in 3 tries. The issue in that case was the
person did not understand English well enough to pass the written
portion of the test. She was from Portugal. In 6 years.... ALL OTHERS
have passed.

grade level to complete the

graduate. If you are under 18

What is a certified nursing assistant?
Certified nursing
assistants (CNA's), are known as nursing aides, home health care aide,
orderlies, patient care technicians. CNA's provide assistant to patients
in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Doctor's
Offices or at a patients home and work under the supervision of a nurse
or doctor.
What is the Salary Range for CNA
Work?
The local
CNA Salary range in the Tampa Bay area varies from $12.00 to $22.00 per
hour according to the facility type you work at. The Highest paying
positions are in Home Health Care and also require that you work a
flexible schedule and own you're own care.
One of the many advantages of
working in larger organizations like Hospitals and Nursing homes today
is because of the CNA Shortage, you can work as much over time as you
wish. Facilities and Hospitals are open 24 hours a day, so the added
flexibility of your work schedule makes it easier for working mom's and
dad's and students to chose a schedule just right fro them.
What kind of work do CNA's
do?

As a certified nursing
assistant you might work in a hospital, a clinic, a
physician's office, or a patient's home. You would assist
patients with the Activities of Daily Living and the daily
tasks monitor vital signs( BP, Pulse, Respiration, Temp) and
report any variations to a registered nurse, and prepare
patients for examination. |
Where do CNAs work?
CNAs can find work in community

Education is Required as
a CNA?
Each certified nursing assistant must
complete a minimum of 12
hours of in-service
training each calendar
year. For candidates
certified during the
calendar year, the
minimum in-service hours
required shall be
prorated at the rate of
1.0 hours per month from
the month of initial
certification to the end
of the calendar year.
Every 2 years,
in-service training
hours shall include, but
are not limited to, the
following areas:
(a)
HIV/AIDS, Infection
Control;
(b)
Domestic Violence;
(c)
Medical Record
Documentation and Legal
Aspects Appropriate to
Nursing Assistants;
(d)
Resident Rights;
(e)
Communication with

How do I get started in my
nurse assisting career?
State of Florida Certification
Requirements
1.
Candidates, both first-time and re-certifying, must pass
the Experior CNA Exam which is a 2 part examination,
consisting of a written and a performance (skills)
section.
2. The
Written Test is a two-hour test with fifty (50)
multiple-choice questions written in English. An Oral or
Spanish Test may be requested for the Written Test if
you have difficulty reading English and you must ask for
it when you submit your application.
3. The
Manual Skills Evaluation requires the applicant to
perform three (3) randomly selected nursing assistant
skills from the 19 skills studied.
4. You
must learn how to perform the 19 skills required
You must have a high school diploma or its equivalent if
under 18, OR be 18 years of age or older.
5.
Nursing assistants certified out-of-state wishing to
transfer their certification to Florida may apply for
reciprocity. Please see the
Florida Reciprocity and Certification Section,
which includes the application materials.
FLORIDA LAW
64.203 Certified
nursing assistants; certification requirement.--
(1) The
board shall issue a certificate to practice as a
certified nursing assistant to any person who
demonstrates a minimum competency to read and write and
successfully passes the required Level I or Level II
screening pursuant to s.
400.215
and meets
one of the following requirements:
(a) Has
successfully completed an approved training program and
achieved a minimum score, established by rule of the
board, on the nursing assistant competency examination,
which consists of a written portion and
skills-demonstration portion approved by the board and
administered at a site and by personnel approved by the
department.
(b)
Has achieved a minimum score, established by rule of the
board, on the nursing assistant competency examination,
which consists of a written portion and
skills-demonstration portion, approved by the board and
administered at a site and by personnel approved by the
department and:
1. Has a
high school diploma, or its equivalent; or
2. Is at least 18 years of age.
(c) Is currently certified in another state; is listed
on that state's certified nursing assistant registry;
and has not been found to have committed abuse, neglect,
or exploitation in that state.
(d) Has completed the curriculum developed under the
Enterprise Florida Jobs and Education Partnership Grant
and achieved a minimum score, established by rule of the
board, on the nursing assistant competency examination,
which consists of a written portion and
skills-demonstration portion, approved by the board and
administered at a site and by personnel approved by the
department.
(2) If an applicant fails to pass the nursing assistant
competency examination in three attempts, the applicant
is not eligible for reexamination unless the applicant
completes an approved training program.
(3) An oral
examination shall be administered as a substitute for
the written portion of the examination upon request. The
oral examination shall be administered at a site and by
personnel approved by the department.
(4) The board shall adopt rules to provide for the
initial certification of certified nursing assistants.
(5) Certification as a nursing assistant, in accordance
with this part, may be renewed until such time as the
nursing assistant allows a period of 24 consecutive
months to pass during which period the nursing assistant
fails to perform any nursing-related services for
monetary compensation. When a nursing assistant fails to
perform any nursing-related services for monetary
compensation for a period of 24 consecutive months, the
nursing assistant must complete a new training and
competency evaluation program or a new competency
evaluation program.
(6) A certified nursing assistant shall maintain a
current address with the board in accordance with s.
456.035.
(7) A certified nursing assistant shall complete 12
hours of inservice training during each calendar year.
The certified nursing assistant shall be responsible for
maintaining documentation demonstrating compliance with
these provisions. The Council on Certified Nursing
Assistants, in accordance with s.
464.2085(2)(b), shall propose rules to implement
this subsection.
(8) The department shall renew a certificate upon
receipt of the renewal application and imposition of a
fee of not less than $20 and not more than $50
biennially. The department shall adopt rules
establishing a procedure for the biennial renewal of
certificates. Any certificate that is not renewed by
July 1, 2006, is void.
